A plunging
neckline is cut a lot lower than the normal neckline, sometimes even just under the ribs,
leaving the chest and, in many cases, some cleavage exposed.
Most of us
have seen models and actresses wearing a plunging neckline dress or top at some awards show or on the catwalk, but
even the average women can wear a dress with a low cut neckline well.
Some are
cut lower than others, so depending on your figure and confidence, you should pick one which you
are comfortable with. It's a matter of personal preference.
Here are a few things to
consider when thinking about wearing a plunging neckline:
If you have low breasts try to find
a top or dress which is going to be able to support you well. Some plunge dresses have a built in
strapless bra giving you extra support that isn't visible.
If you have a bony chest, you might
want to buy a low neckline dress with a thin cover over the chest area. Something like lace or chiffon
is a popular choice. Otherwise wearing a necklace will help to disguise this.
For those with broad shoulders,
choose a dress with wider shoulder straps or even sleeves.
Women with smaller breasts often
choose a lower cut plunging neckline to draw attention away from the bust. It may be a good idea to use
some sort of adhesive along the line of the bust as the lower the cut, the more of a chance that the
dress will open too much.
The more confident women
will be able to wear a plunging neckline with no problem at all. However, for those who are not so sure, but
want to try, can always use accessories to draw attention away. A necklace and bag, maybe a scarf, or even a
cardigan may work, so you can adjust the amount that is exposed by undoing or doing up the
buttons.
These types of dresses and
tops come in a wide range of designs, including having straps or strapless, and whether it has sleeves or not.
Whichever you decide on, it is important to know what type of bra to wear. Obviously if you wear a
strapless dress you will want to wear a strapless bra. If the cut is very lowm you might want to use a stick on
bra. These are adhesive cups which will give you support without the need for any straps at all.
